Scranton announces grads

The University of Scranton conferred 1,561 degrees at two commencement ceremonies, representing the largest graduation class in 120-year history of the Jesuit school.

Two local students were among those who participated in this historic event. Kelley J. Martin of Guyton graduated with a Master of Science degree in curriculum and instruction and Michael E. Martin of Guyton graduated with a Master of Science in curriculum and instruction.

On May 24, Scranton conferred a record number of post-baccalaureate degrees (647 master’s degrees and 36 doctoral degrees) at its commencement ceremony in the Byron Recreation Complex on campus.

On May 25, the University of Scranton conferred 878 bachelor’s and associate’s degrees at its undergraduate commencement ceremony at Wachovia Arena.
