The South Effingham Elementary media center staff held an open house on April 24 to celebrate being recognized by the Georgia Department of Education as an Exceptional Library Media Program.  The award criteria was being able to prove a high level of quality and quantity of the services that the school’s media program provides its students, staff, parents and community.  The open house was a perfect example of how this media center meets those criteria.

In addition to providing finger foods and tours of the media center, students, teachers, staff and special guests read poetry in the “Poetry Cafe.” Complete with a spotlight and a bongo drum reminiscent of the 1960’s, the poets shared their thoughts, followed by the snapping of fingers from the audience.
