After months of hard work to prove their commitment to the health of students, South Effingham Middle School has won a Dance, Dance Revolution kit valued at $4,500.

Dance, Dance Revolution is designed to get your heart pumping and your body moving and schools nationwide are incorporating the game into the school day as a way to encourage physical activity.

The Coastal Health District’s Live Healthy Georgia Schools initiative challenged every school in its eight-county district to complete an extensive list of activities to promote school health.

Once all the requirements are met, schools will win one of 50 Dance, Dance Revolution kits and SEMS was the second school in the eight-county district and first in Effingham County to complete all the requirements and be presented its kit.

The award presentation was Monday at SEMS.

Accepting the award were Dr. Mark Winters, principal; Cheryl Johnson, school nurse; and Amy Duke, P.E. teacher.
