STC cooking up culinary classes starting July 8

Attention all aspiring top chefs — summer classes begin July 8 at The Culinary Institute of Savannah at Savannah Technical College.  

Associate Instructor of Savannah Tech’s Culinary Arts Program and owner of New South Pub and Catering at the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum, Chef Matt Cohen, will be teaching principles of cooking at The Culinary Institute of Savannah at Savannah Technical College.

Registration is open now. Classes are scheduled to begin July 8 and will be held at Savannah Technical College on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 6-10 p.m.

About The Culinary Institute at Savannah Technical College:

The Culinary Institute at Savannah Technical College is accredited by the American Culinary Federation.

The program emphasizes technical and theoretical knowledge combined with the practical application of basic food preparation and service techniques, sanitation, equipment use and safety.

There are currently over 70 students enrolled in the degree and diploma programs.

About Chef Matt Cohen:

Cohen is a culinary expert who has worked in big name restaurants throughout New York and Atlanta. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., Cohen trained at one of the top rated culinary schools in the world.

He has been honored with numerous awards throughout his career including the 2008 Small Business Chamber’s New and Emerging Small Business of the Year Award,  the 2008 Grace Award for Innovator of the Year, and 2008 Best Chef of the Year by “Connect Savannah” magazine in their annual Best-of-Savannah Readers’ Poll.  

Cohen was recently elected to serve as a board member for the Georgia Restaurant Association and the Savannah Chapter of the American Red Cross.
