STC extends enrollment deadline

SAVANNAH — Savannah Technical College has extended its fall semester enrollment deadline until Aug. 15. First-time or transferring students must submit all admissions paperwork prior to the enrollment deadline.


Student Affairs will be open extended hours at the College’s campuses in Savannah, Hinesville and Rincon from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and from 8 a.m.-noon on Fridays during the extended enrollment period.


The first day of classes for fall semester is Aug. 22.

The Effingham County Board of Education approved a $203 million fiscal year 2026 budget Thursday night, reflecting an 11% increase over last year. The rise is largely due to an $8 million spike in health and retirement benefit costs for employees. To help cover the shortfall, the district may raise the property tax millage rate, potentially increasing homeowners’ taxes by up to 12 percent.
