STC to offer weekend studies program this summer

SAVANNAH — For today’s working adults, finding time to attend college is often difficult. But Savannah Technical College is making it easier with its new weekend college studies program, offering College Algebra (MAT 191) and Composition and Rhetoric (ENG 191) on alternating Saturday mornings at the College’s Savannah Campus, 5717 White Bluff Road.

“We know that busy professionals often find it difficult to schedule courses during the college’s normal Monday–Thursday schedule,” said Al Cunningham, STC dean of general studies. “This gives them another option.”

The courses offered are a part of the college’s new Technical Communications program and readily transfer to area universities and other regionally accredited institutions for continued study.

Each course will meet from 9 a.m.-noon  for five alternating Saturdays per course during the College’s summer quarter (July 9 – Sept. 19)

The format is a blend of classroom and on-line study, providing additional flexibility for serious students. The program is expected to initially serve 60 students and will expand to include additional sections for summer quarter and additional course offerings as needed in subsequent quarters.

Regular college admission processes apply for new students. Assistance with application, financial aid information and testing/transcripts is available at the Student Success Center in the Administration Building on the Savannah Campus.
Current students can register on-line beginning May 21. New student registration is May 29 and open registration is July 5.
