Live Oak Public Libraries will accept entries for the Savannah Children’s Book Festival Poster Contest from April 1-30. The theme of the posters should be books, reading or libraries.

First, second and third place winners in the following age groups will receive gift cards from local art supply stores: elementary school, middle school, high school, and college students.

Posters must be on letter-sized paper and should not include any wording. For a complete list of poster guidelines, visit www.liveoakpl.org.

Submissions may be dropped off at any library branch in Chatham, Effingham or Liberty County. Winners will be posted on the Web site May 8.

“We’re very excited about this year’s festival poster contest,” said Christy Divine, Live Oak Public Libraries marketing director. “It’s a great way to involve art students of all ages in the book festival and it gives everyone an opportunity to share and showcase their work.”

Divine added that the poster contest is the first step in a year-long process leading up to the festival, set for Nov. 14 of this year. “This summer, programs at many of our library branches will spotlight authors and illustrators who are coming in November,” she said. “Our Young Writer’s Contest in the early fall encourages area students to ‘Accentuate the Positive’ as we celebrate the Johnny Mercer Centennial.”
