Truluck named to deans list at Emory

ATLANTA—Emilia Truluck of Rincon was named to the dean’s list of Emory College of Arts and Sciences, the undergraduate, liberal arts college of Emory University in Atlanta, for the 2013 spring semester.

Students must be in the top 20 percent of Emory College or have approximately a 3.85 grade-point average or higher to be named to the dean’s list.

Emory University is known for its academics, undergraduate experience, highly-ranked professional schools and state-of-the-art research facilities. Emory encompasses nine academic divisions as well as the Carlos Museum, the Carter Center, the Yerkes National Primate Research Center and Emory Healthcare, Georgia’s largest health care system.

The Effingham County Board of Education approved a $203 million fiscal year 2026 budget Thursday night, reflecting an 11% increase over last year. The rise is largely due to an $8 million spike in health and retirement benefit costs for employees. To help cover the shortfall, the district may raise the property tax millage rate, potentially increasing homeowners’ taxes by up to 12 percent.
