White named to Presidents List

Don White Jr. of Rincon has been named to the President’s List at Thomas University for the fall 2011 semester.

The President’s List recognizes full-time students who earn a grade point average of 4.0.

Thomas University, established in 1950, is a private not-for-profit university of about 1,100 students located in Thomasville. TU awards associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in traditional classroom settings and through online delivery.

The Effingham County Board of Education approved a $203 million fiscal year 2026 budget Thursday night, reflecting an 11% increase over last year. The rise is largely due to an $8 million spike in health and retirement benefit costs for employees. To help cover the shortfall, the district may raise the property tax millage rate, potentially increasing homeowners’ taxes by up to 12 percent.
