The local Woodmen of the World chapter has started a new scholarship program for Effingham County students.

Woodmen of the World chapter 1770 is offering a pair of $500 scholarships. Each scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from Effingham County, with one designated specifically for a member of Woodmen of the World.

Applications are available on the Effingham County High School and South Effingham High School Web sites or from Bill Ross, area field representative of Woodmen of the World, at bpross@woodmen.org or (912) 398-1785. Applications should be turned in no later than April 15.
