Bethesda UMC holds Messiah in the Passover

Messiah in the Passover is a vivid demonstration showing how Jesus fulfilled the ancient feast of Passover.

Rev. Ken Alpen of the Chosen People Ministries will demonstrate the traditional Passover Seder table at Bethesda United Methodist Church, 3608 Midland Rd., Guyton, on March 26 at 7 p.m.

The Chosen People Ministries was founded in 1894 by Leopold Cohn, a Hungarian rabbi who came to believe that Jesus is the Messiah promised in the Hebrew scripture.

During the meal, the speaker explains the symbolic meanings of the various items of the Passover feast and highlights their relationship to the Last Supper of Jesus and the disciples. The speaker also gives special emphasis on the redemptive significance of the crucifixion.

This celebration of the Passover gives the Christian community insight into Jewish tradition which will help the Christian better understand the Jewish roots of Christianity.  The program also helps the Jewish and the Christian communities understand their common heritage.

Bethesda United Methodist Church invites both the Christian and Jewish community to attend. For more information, please call 728-3332.  A love offering for the ministry will be received.
