Ed and Cathy Pulkinen of Guyton and their three children will be attending Saturday night worship services when they launch at the Effingham Campus of Savannah Christian Church this weekend.

For Cathy, a member of Savannah Christian for more than 12 years, worshipping on Saturday night instead of Sunday morning is an opportunity to make room for more people to attend the normally full Sunday morning worship services.

“We don’t want anybody to be turned away,” Cathy Pulkinen said. And, she added with a laugh, the kids — Eli, 14, Jacob, 12, and Sarah, 4 — are excited about sleeping in on Sundays.

More than 800 members and visitors of Savannah Christian Church have been filling the seats and rooms of Savannah Christian’s Effingham Campus since the doors opened in November on Fort Howard Road in Rincon.

“(God) is willing to give us every opportunity to see him and know him,” said Lyle Wood, the Effingham campus pastor. “He is opening the doors wide. That is such an amazing thing.”
