Pirate Fest set to land on Tybee next month

Swashbucklers of all ages will converge on Tybee Island for the 8th Annual

Tybee Island Pirate Festivalon Oct. 4-7. Every Columbus Day weekend, Tybee Island transforms into a lively pirate village, celebrating the rich seafaring history that defines the Georgia coast with live music, children’s activities and a Pirate Victory Parade.

 Mötley Crüe lead singer Vince Neil will be the festival headliner at a live concert on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. Neil will perform a variety of Mötley Crüe hits at his Tybee Island Pirate Festival performance. Mötley Crüe has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide.

From live entertainment on Friday night by the Eric Culbertson Band and Jimmy Buffet cover band A1A to the concert by Vince Neil on Saturday night, the 2012 Tybee Island Pirate Festival will feature a wide range of musical artists. Space will be limited during evening concerts, so plan to arrive early to hear your favorite performers.

Additional highlights for the 2012 Tybee Island Pirate Festival include The Pirate Victory Parade, Scallywags Costume Contest, Little Matey’s Cove, Thieves’ Market and the new Landshark’s Mugs of Mutiny Tavern with live music. The festivities kick off with the coronation at the King and Queen at the Buccaneer Ball at The Crab Shack on Oct. 4.

 "The Tybee Island Pirate Festival offers plenty of world-class entertainment and family-friendly activities at one of the liveliest celebrations along the coast," said Lindsay Fruchtl, director of marketing for the Tybee Island Tourism Council. "We invite visitors and locals to get in touch with their inner pirate and escape the ordinary throughout the Columbus Day weekend."

All 2012 Pirate Festival events will be held at the South Beach parking lot located at Tybrisa Street on Tybee Island.
