Recalling school year closings long ago in south Effingham

The Miller Chapel Lutheran School female graduates of 1918 were, from left to right: Ila Kessler, Madge Tuttle, Lucille Kessler, Ella Zipperer, Eulah Zettler, Elmyra Zipperer, Dessie Kessler, Helen Kessler (small child), teacher – Hattie Mae Helmey (not in picture). Miller Chapel School was a school operated by the Lutheran church on Noel C. Conaway Road between Midland Road and Kolic Helmey Road. It was consolidated into the Marlow School in 1925. - photo by Photo provided
