MACON—Folks looking to find locally grown produce or perhaps reconnect with their childhood garden memories now have their chance through Georgia Farm Bureau’s Certified Farm Markets.

The summer crops of tomatoes, peaches, blueberries, watermelons, sweet corn, and other fresh produce is ready at the more than 100 CFMs across the state.

“The Certified Farm Markets are a great family activity,” said GFB President Zippy Duvall. “It’s a good way to get people to come to the farm and see what’s happening there, and they’ll find a wide variety of delicious produce at affordable prices.”

Many CFMs also offer farm tours and other products and services to enhance the on-farm experience, including hosting school and church groups for tours.

“People like to know where their food comes from,” said Sam Payne, vice chairman of the GFB Commodity Advisory Committee for Vegetables. “They want to know their produce is good and they want to know how it’s being treated. Visiting the Certified Farm Markets is a great way to get good, fresh produce straight out of the field.”
