Lee commissioned as Air Force officer

Christopher Warren Lee, son of Lannie and Debra Lee, was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force on May 7. He was commissioned by Lt. Col. (ret.) Mike Yarbrough of Effingham County.

Second Lt. Lee is a 2007 graduate of South Effingham High School and a graduate of Valdosta State University. He received a bachelor of science degree with a major in business management and a minor in aerospace science.

He was also cadet wing commander for Valdosta State’s AFROTC Detachment 172. He received the Meritorious Service Award for outstanding service as cadet wing commander, attended the professional officers course in fall 2009 and spring 2010 and was rated as a field training superior performer. He also received the academic achievement designation with four oak leaf clusters, the physical fitness award with three oak leaf clusters and was the general military course cadet of the month for February 2009.

He will be assigned as a pilot with the 14th Operations Support Squadron at Columbus Air Force Base, Miss.
