SPRINGFIELD — Kick the holiday season off Motown style at the Mars Theatre on Saturday at 7 p.m.

“A Soulful Christmas” will feature the talents of Laiken Love and the Fellowship of Love, and will be filled with timeless classics and the soulful sounds of the season.

Laiken Williams was born and raised in Nicholls. After graduating from Coffee County High School, she set off to Savannah to attend Armstrong Atlantic State University to major in political science.

While at AASU, Williams was involved with Armstrong’s University Chorale. After graduation, she joined the Savannah Philharmonic Chorus and is still an active member. She also performs with a smaller chamber choir named I Cantori.

After realizing how important music is to her life, Williams decided to step out and perform at open mics. This leap of faith led her into the Savannah music scene.

In 2012, Williams, aka Laiken Love, started her own band Fellowship of Love. All of her hard work paid off when she was awarded Musician of the Year through SONATA (Sponsors of New and Talented Artists) in 2015.

Fellowship of Love is a band of many talents! While it is primarily a cover band, it plays a fine quality of jazz, funk, soul, Motown, pop, rock and more!

Tickets cost $35 and can be purchased online at www.marstheatre.com, in person at the theatre or at Springfield City Hall on through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (912-754-7617).
