The Georgia Department of Agriculture needs you to help choose the state’s new Feline Friend license plate.  Log onto www.fixgeorgiacats.org and vote for your favorite design.

The tag design with the most votes by Sept. 8 will be featured on the new license plate. Out of almost 200 entries from all over the country, the top six pieces were chosen that best represented a variety of media and ideas.

The contest and ultimately the final license plate are part of a funding initiative to benefit the Dog and Cat Sterilization Program (DCSP).  Please keep in mind the following tips when voting:
• Only one vote per computer will be tallied
• Please rate each design on the given scale
• Cast your vote online at www.fixgeorgiacats.org from Aug. 22 – Sept. 8.
• You may also cast your vote via mail:
Cat License Plate Art Contest

19 Martin Luther King Jr. SW, Room 106
Atlanta, GA 30334

The winning art will be featured on the new Feline Friend license plate, which will be sold in addition to the current designs beginning in December. The dog and cat license plates currently are the primary funding source for the Dog and Cat Sterilization Program (DCSP). This innovative program provides subsidies for spay/neuter procedures performed by licensed and accredited veterinarians in all 159 Georgia counties.

More than 35,000 spay/neuter procedures have been performed since 2003 through the DCSP.

Unlike other spay/neuter programs, the Dog and Cat Sterilization Program has no participation income requirements.  All Georgia residents may benefit from spay/neuter subsidies granted by the DCSP.

Interested residents should contact their local veterinarians to confirm program participation or call the Department at (404) 656-3667 or visit www.agr.state.ga.us for more information.
