On the 25th Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Rev. Dr. Francys Johnson said the slain civil rights leader message should be one of leading through serving.
“Dr. King said life’s most urging and persistent question is, ‘what are you doing for others?’” he said at Monday’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Observance breakfast.
Johnson, a Statesboro attorney and senior minister at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Pembroke, said Jesus gave people a new definition of greatness that is rooted in service. “Recognize that he who is the greatest among you will be your servant,” Johnson said. “It means that everybody can be great. You don’t have to have a college degree to be great because you don’t have to have a college degree to serve somebody. All you need to serve somebody is a heart that is full of grace."
