Unlisted almonds prompt product recall

State Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin is alerting Georgians to the recall of some cereal because of unlisted ingredients.

Gilster-Mary Lee Corp. of Chester, Ill., is recalling a single lot of 21 oz. Great Value Berry Crunch cereal because it may contain undeclared almonds.

Only products containing the code 07 21 10 N02 are affected by this recall.

The product was distributed solely through Wal-Mart stores in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and West Virginia.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds or tree nuts may run the risk of a serious allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Consumers may return the product to the store where they purchased it for a refund or replacement. Any questions regarding can be directed to Gilster-Mary Lee at (800) 851-5371 between the hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Central Standard Time.
