Benjamin Frederick and Lori Michelle Newkirk

On June 30, Lori Michelle Moore and Benjamin Frederick Newkirk were united in marriage at the Springfield United Methodist Church at 6 p.m. with Dr. Doug Holden officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Michael Moore of Springfield and the granddaughter of Mrs. Kathryn Zipperer of Rincon and the late Leon A. Zipperer Sr., and of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Moore of Guyton and the late Dorothy Moore.

The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Roy J. Newkirk Jr. of Rincon. He is the grandson of Mrs. Gracie Helmly of Rincon and the late Freddie Helmly, and of the late Louise and Roy Newkirk Sr.

The music for the ceremony was provided by Linda Stansfield, organist; Melissa Starling, pianist; and Dr. William Denton, trumpeter. Soloists included Keith Martin and Carlett Fulcher. Michael Zipperer, uncle of the bride, provided a scripture reading.

The bride was given in marriage by her father, and chose her sister, Molly Ann Moore, as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Laura Griffin, Ginger Kessler, Patsy Johnson, Keri Morgan, Jessica Huber, Gwen Newkirk, sister of the groom, Shelly Graham and Kathy Phillips, cousins of the bride.

The groom chose his father, Roy J. Newkirk Jr., as best man. Groomsmen were Jacob Arnsdorff, Keith Buie, Kerry Maennche, Keith Martin, Nicholas and Allen Newkirk, brothers of the groom, Steve Austin and Ronald Hiers, cousins of the groom.

The wedding ceremony was directed by Harriett Snooks, with Julie Mitchell assisting. Kimberly Sovine of Danville, Ill., cousin of the bride, and April Newkirk, sister-in-law of the groom, were the guest registrars. The couple enjoyed a reception and dance at the Forest Heights County Club in Statesboro. After a wedding trip to the Hawaiian Islands, the couple is residing in Guyton.
