United Way-Effingham was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from the W. W. Williams Company in recognition of its 100th anniversary. A celebration luncheon of this milestone was held at their Savannah facility recently and the donation was presented.

Local employees of W.W. Williams made recommendations to their corporate office in Columbus, Ohio, on the charities to which they wished to make awards. Some of the requirements for recommendations of local charities included having a 3- or 4-star rating with Charity Navigator and be a qualified 501c3 organization. United Way of the Coastal Empire’s Effingham Service Center was one of the local chosen charities.

United Way of the Coastal Empire has received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for the past several years.
