Annual breakfast to start MLK Jr Day activities

Effingham County will begin its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day observance with a 7:30 a.m. breakfast at the county administrative complex.

Rev. Curtis Warner of Clyo, pastor of Thomas Chapel AME Church, will be the grand marshal for the parade, which is set to begin at 10 a.m. in Springfield.

The children’s awards program will start at noon at the Effingham County Recreation and Parks gym on Highway 119.

The evening program and closing celebration, with float awards presented, will be held at the Pilgrim Association Building in Guyton at 6 p.m.
