The Coastal Regional Commission Area Agency on Aging held its volunteer recognition luncheon to thank the advisory council members from nine area counties who donate their time to help oversee the agency.

Aging Services Director Dionne Lovett told the volunteers their acts of kindness allow the AAA to foster the development of a comprehensive, coordinated system of services which promotes the independence and well-being of coastal area older adults and those with disabilities, and to provide these individuals and their caregivers with information and access to needed services.

Three advisory council members from Effingham County were recognized. Rev. Lloyd Dees, Linda Wright and Linda Mercer serve on the council, attend quarterly meetings and watch over the funding and implementation of services to the elderly in the county.

Coastal Regional Commission Executive Director Allen Burns also acknowledged these volunteers, along with advisory council chair Rev. Henry Frasier.

Their next quarterly meeting will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Richmond Hill City Center.
