Trevor Baeten has finished his Eagle Scout project of building and installing new picnic tables at the Effingham County Methodist Campground and at Springfield United Methodist Church.

Baeten, with the help of family, friends and fellow scouts, built six new pressure-treated picnic tables. Four were placed in front of the youth tent at the Methodist Campground. The other two were placed in the playground area at the Springfield Methodist Church.

It was Baeten’s goal to provide an outdoor seating area in front of the youth tent for the August Campmeetings, and to provide the youth leaders and adults with a place to sit while the children play in the playground at the church.

Baeten has been a member of Troop 295 for the past six years. His Eagle ceremony will be held Feb. 22 at Rincon First Baptist Chapel at 3 p.m. All interested parties are invited to attend.

Baeten joined Troup 295 in June 2008 and since has earned six rank advancements, 39 merit badges, 74 nights of camping, a 100 and 250 hour community service award, the Good Turn America Award for 2008, 2009, 2010, the Messenger of Peace Award, and the World Conservation Award. His leadership service included two years as scribe, two years as patrol leader and troup guide.
