Girl Scout Brownie Troop No. 30197 made a very special visit to Effingham Community Orchestra’s May 1 rehearsal. They arrived to complete a mission they had been working on since the beginning of their cookie sale campaign.

Some of the troop’s girls and families had attended the orchestra’s December 2010 Holiday concert.

At the concert, they learned that the orchestra depends totally upon musician contributions and community donations for their existence. They were impressed by that fact.

Shortly after the concert, the troop members cast their votes to determine which charity they would like to give part of the profits from their 201l cookie sale campaign. Effingham Community Orchestra was one of their vote winners.

With this mission in mind, the girls and family members worked harder than ever selling their cookies. On May 1, they presented to Effingham Community Orchestra a check for $600 which placed them in the Maestro’s Circle of the “Friends of the Orchestra Sponsors.”
