U.S. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Mandi N. Byrd graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.

She is the daughter of Barbara C. Byrd of Springfield and Michael L. Byrd of Dayton, Ohio, and sister of Christy M. Carpenter of Huber Heights, Ohio, Sean M. Bragg and Robbie T. Bragg of New Carlisle, Ohio, and Heather M. Overbay of West Carrolton, Ohio.

Byrd completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
