Petty Officer 3rd Class Nicholas James Chapman of Rincon graduated from C School in Jacksonville, Fla., on April 10.

He is the son of Sandra D. Chapman and the late Richard L. Chapman of Rincon. He is the grandson of Theron and Clyde Chapman of Pooler and James and Edith Davis of Jacksonville. He was a 2007 graduate of South Effingham High School and completed the school’s NJROTC program.

Chapman’s executive officer presented him with the honor graduate award for having demonstrated outstanding performance and leadership qualities. Upon receiving his air warfare wings, he was pinned by Davis, a retired navy lieutenant junior grade, and his other grandfather, a carpenters mate 2nd class in the Navy.

Chapman is stationed in Jacksonville with Squadron VP5 where he operates the radar system on a P-3 Orion. Although new to the squadron, Chapman performed the ribbon cutting ceremony for the squadron’s new hangar.
