The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit will host its next Georgia Teens Ride with Pride course Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Effingham County Courthouse.

Teens Ride with Pride is a free, two-hour course designed to help parents and their new teen drivers, ages 14-16, learn what they need to do during the 40 hours of supervised practice driving time.

Seating for the course is limited, so anyone interested in attending is encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. Teens and parents must register to attend.

The program addresses driver attitude, knowledge and behavior, rather being than a technical hands-on driver training course. Completion of the course may reduce insurance rates, but it does not count toward the required 40 hours of supervised driving practice.

The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office is one of only a few agencies in Georgia with deputies certified as instructors who can host the Georgia Teens Ride with Pride course. The course is also hosted and sponsored by the University of Georgia.
