The 58,000-square-foot, $30 million dollar expansion and modernization project of Effingham Hospital and Care Center is nearly complete, and on Jan. 28 the community is invited to attend a special ceremony, open house and behind-the-scenes tour of the new Effingham Health System.

Starting with a dedication ceremony at 11 a.m. and followed by an open house and tours of the new space, those in attendance will have the opportunity to see the new Emergency Medicine Department, state-of-the-art surgery suites, advances in medical imaging, as well as a variety of outpatient services that will be available to the community once the new wing of the medical campus is officially opened for service scheduled for February.

In addition to the newly constructed space, guests will learn of the major renovations that have taken place within the award-winning nursing home, including the addition of a special care unit designed to provide expert care to those living with Alzheimer’s disease.

All members of the community are encouraged to attend the event in order to become familiar with the floor plan, see where the new medical emergency services will be provided and better understand where out-patient services, such as the laboratory and radiology departments, will be located once the move is complete.

For the open house there will be parking on-site at Effingham Health System, which is at 459 Highway 119 S. in Springfield. To accommodate overflow, there will be additional parking with a complimentary shuttle bus service from the parking lot at Effingham County High School starting at 10 a.m. and running in 15-minute intervals throughout the day. Tours will conclude after 2 p.m.
