McPherson named 165ths senior NCO of the year

Senior Master Sgt. Reginald McPherson has been named the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year for the 165th Airlift Wing of the Georgia Air National Guard. The 165th is based in Savannah.

McPherson enlisted in the Air Force Reserve in May 1980. Upon completion of basic military training, he attended aircraft pneudraulic mechanic school at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Ill. He transferred to the 165th Airlift Wing in May 1989.  

McPherson became a full-time technician in November 1989 and worked in the Maintenance Squadron as a C-130H crew chief. He remained in that capacity until March 2002 with his selection as the wing ground/weapons safety manager.

His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, First Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Commendation Medal. McPherson is a member of the Air Force Association and the Enlisted Association of the Air National Guard.

He resides in Rincon with his wife Ida and their two daughters Rashonda and Rhashay.
