CLAY NATIONAL GUARD CENTER, Marietta—A Rincon resident has been named the new command chief of the Georgia Air National Guard.
Chief Master Sgt. Reginald McPherson, was confirmed for this position by the adjutant general of the Georgia National Guard, Brig. Gen. Joe Jarred. McPherson began his assignment on Aug. 1.
McPherson is a member of the Georgia Air National Guard Headquarters staff.
The Command Chief of the Georgia Air National Guard is responsible for advising the adjutant general, the Air National Guard commander and the state senior enlisted adviser on all matters pertaining to the enlisted personnel of the Georgia Air National Guard.
“First and foremost I’m here to take care of people,” said McPherson. “Our airmen are our greatest capital and they deserve excellence.”
McPherson plans to focus on creating stronger unity among the Georgia National Guard units, increasing professional education among Guardsmen and highlighting their accomplishments.
McPherson enlisted in the Air Force Reserve in May 1980, and is now the highest ranking enlisted member of the Georgia Air National Guard.
“I give a lot of credit to the Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club of Savannah,” said McPherson. “They helped mentor me at a young age and set me on a path to accomplish great things.”
McPherson is a resident of Rincon where his wife of 28 years Ira lives with their two daughters, Rashonda and Rhashay.
