NAACP swears in new officers

The Effingham County NAACP recently swore in its slate of officers.

Sworn in were Leroy Lloyd, president; Jasper Lee, vice president; Lucy Powell, secretary; Gwendolyn Goldwire, treasurer; and Mary P. Thomas, membership chairperson.

The guest speaker at the meeting was Rev. Francys Johnson of Statesboro, the NAACP state president. Also attending were Richard Shinholster, vice president of the Savannah chapter and district coordinator, and Carlos Brown, district coordinator.

The public is invited to attend all Effingham County NAACP meetings. The next meeting is Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Baptist Church, 218 Wallace Dr. in Springfield.
