NAACP to host town hall on police, community relations

An Effingham County town hall on police and community relations will be held at the Effingham County Board of Education auditorium April 23 at 6:30 p.m.

Participants scheduled include Effingham County Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie, Springfield Police Chief Paul Wynn, Guyton Police Chief Kelphie Lundy, Rincon Police Chief Phillip Scholl, Family Connection, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Guyton Christian Church, CASA, Effingham Health System, Springfield Merchants Association, Victim Witness, Juvenile Justice and HYPE.

The local branch of the NAACP is calling the town hall meeting in Effingham County "in an effort to begin constructive community-centered dialogue that could result in a progressive agenda wherein the community and law enforcement work cooperatively addressing mutual concerns."
