Orchestra setting the stage for two fundraising events

Effingham Community Orchestra is holding a “Retro Sock Hop Style Dance” fundraiser on April 23 from 7-10 p.m. at the Effingham County Recreation and Parks gym in Springfield, 808 Highway 119 South. 

There will be live music from many decades, beginning with swing and jazz of the 1930s and forward through rock-and-roll, disco and more current. Attendees are encouraged to dress in attire from their favorite decade. 

Tickets are $10 each or two for $15. The ticket includes hot dog, chips, drink and dessert. No child care will be provided.

Tickets are limited and being sold in advance at the following businesses through April 15: Bloomingdale, The DoNut Shop; Guyton, Reiser & Reiser CPA; Rincon, El Real Mexican Restaurant, International Mortgage Company, Island Guitars & Teaching Studios, Melton Insurance Agency, Mrs. Jean›s Restaurant, Noah›s Ark Pet Shop, Rincon Packaging & Shipping, Teach Right, and The DoNut Shop; Springfield, Burns World Travel. 

The orchestra is raffling off four one-day Hopper Park passes to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. 

The drawing will be held at the orchestra›s May 1 concert. You must be 18 or older to enter the drawing but you do not have to be present to win. Tickets are $1 each and a purchase of five will mean an extra ticket. Tickets may be purchased from any of the Orchestra›s musicians or volunteers. 

Tickets also may be purchased at the Orchestra›s booth at Guyton›s April 16 Sale on the Trail, at the orchestra›s April 23 dance or before the concert begins at the orchestra›s May 1 concert.
