A brand new, hand-built table was delivered and set up on Thursday at the Treutlen House by Bob Swing and several men from the Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Using materials donated by Lowe’s, Swing built a table that is 14-foot, 4-inch by 48-inch. The table was so sturdy and heavy that it was delivered to the door of Treutlen House by a Lowe’s forklift. The driver for Lowe’s was DeWayne Jaudon and the group from Ebenezer Baptist included Charlie Kelly, Jimmy Dressler, David Blissett, Jeff Haywood and Bob Swing.

The table was carried inside by the men along with help from some of the boys of Treutlen House, and the process was overseen by Treutlen Board President Mose Mock and Executive Director Susan Gattman. The group regularly does maintenance work at the House and saw a need for a larger, sturdier dinner table for the boys.

Swing, who did most of the construction, said it was purely a labor of love.
