United Way seeking tax preparation volunteers
Placeholder Image

The United Way of Effingham County is looking for people in the community to serve as IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers.

The volunteer tax preparers will help low- to moderate-income working families access tax credits, thereby making the family more financially secure and bringing more money back into the local economy.

No experience is necessary, and free training will be provided. Volunteers will be needed for flexible shifts from January to April.

Interested volunteers must attend two training sessions, on Jan. 8 and Jan. 15 from 5-8 p.m. at the United Way Effingham Service Center. Volunteers will take an open-book test on Jan. 24 to earn their certification.
