We intend to fight (the charges) vigorously.
Attorney Joey Turner of The Turner Firm LLC

RINCON — The attorney for a man facing felony charges in a child molestation case said his client is ready to fight for his freedom.

Alvin Marcus Gober, 32, is in the Effingham County Jail following his Jan. 18 arrest in the wake of a rape and child molestation probe. The arrest came about a week after the alleged victim revealed to a family member that something was wrong. The revelation led to a medical exam and a call to Rincon police by hospital personnel.

“We don’t think there is a foundation to any of it,” said Joey Turner of The Turner Firm LLC. “He’s a family guy, he’s a local man and we want to have him out (of the Effingham County Jail) as soon as possible  and, hopefully, we will have him bonded out.

“We intend to fight (the charges) vigorously.”

Turner has filed for a bond hearing that he expects to occur in the next few days.

Nancy Josephine Jones, 37, was also arrested in the case. She is in the Effingham County Jail charged with child molestation and cruelty to children.
