The Effingham Chamber of Commerce announces plans for this year’s 17th Annual Chamber Holiday Classic and Business Expo on Nov. 20 from noon to 4 p.m. at Effingham County High School.

“This is one event that the community really looks forward to each year,” Chamber President Brooke Graham said. “I can almost taste the delicious Thanksgiving dinner the 4-H cooks up already.”

The Chamber said that there will be one major change in this year’s event and that is there will only be one entrance for the public. The front door will only be for access to the car show, and the back door by the cafeteria will be locked because Chamber leaders want everyone to come down the hallway to see the wreaths in the auction and to see the first of the booths.

The public is asked to enter the gym door on the northeast corner of the building so they won’t miss anything.

The annual event again will feature entertainment on stage at ECHS, the 4-H meal, pictures with Santa, and a great variety of business and arts and crafts booths. There will also be an auction to purchase holiday wreaths made by area schools. The Thanksgiving meal again costs $8 and the community is encouraged to get their order in early. Call the 4-H at 754-8040 or the Chamber at 754-3301 to place an order.

Chamber Director Rick Lott said space is on a first-come, first-served basis and the Chamber is already getting calls for prime space.

“If you’re thinking about having a booth this year, I would say do not put it off. I have a feeling space is going to go fast this year,” he said.
