A steady downpour couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm from Citizens Bank of Effingham’s staff.

The bank celebrated its 10-year anniversary Friday with free lunch at its four locations in Springfield, Rincon, Guyton and Port Wentworth.

“We just want to make the community aware that we’ve been here for 10 years,” said Michael Lee, president and CEO of Citizens Bank, “and thank them for the tremendous support. Without their support, we would not have had the success we have had. It’s about them. It’s not really about us.”

As part of its anniversary celebration, the bank gave away 1,000 priority points to a check card user and also had signups for giveaways of an iPod and a Garmin nuvi at each office.

The bank’s Springfield office opened on Sept. 8, 1998, and the Rincon branch opened a month and a half later.
