Georgia Department of Labor schedules job fair/career expo in Statesboro

ATLANTA — The Georgia Department of Labor’s Statesboro Career Center, Georgia Southern University, the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce, and the Development Authority of Bulloch County will jointly sponsor a job fair and career expo for employers and job seekers in the area.

The event will be held Tuesday, June 17, from 1-5 p.m. in Georgia Southern University’s Nessmith-Lane Continuing Education Building, located at 229 Plant Dr. in Statesboro.

“This job fair and career expo is designed to bring employers and organizations in the Statesboro area together with job seekers who are looking for employment or career guidance,” said state Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond. “Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services to help them reach their full workplace potential.”

The event will feature about 70 employers who will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.

Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: Avon, B.B.&T, Beaver Creek Plantation, Briggs and Stratton, C. Richard Barnes and Associates, Cleve White Nissan, Clyde’s Market, Combined Insurance Americo, Comcast Cable, CSX Transportation, Department of Juvenile Justice, DOT Foods, Express Employment Professionals, FIAMM Technologies, Frontier Communications, Georgia Power Company, Georgia State Prison, Gray’s College Bookstore, Gwinnett County Police Department, HB Technologies, Horizon Staffing, Hunter Photography, Hyatt Regency Savannah, Kelly Services, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Kids World Learning Center, Liberty Regional Medical Center, Lord’s Eye Center, Lowe’s, Manpower, Military Sealift Command, New York Life Insurance Company, Papa Johns Pizza, Pearls of Life Hospice, Pineland, Primerica, Progressive Childcare, Savannah Jobs.com, Savannah Lodging.com, Sea Island Bank, Smith State Prison, Snelling Staffing, Southern Nuclear, Viracon, Walmart, Willstaff Worldwide, and the U.S. Army and Navy.
