Georgia Power has named William Mock as plant manager of its Coastal Region electric generation facilities. In this role, Mock will oversee all operations at Plants Kraft, McIntosh, McManus and Mitchell.

Most recently, Mock served as assistant to John Pemberton, senior vice president and senior production officer, where he provided technical, managerial and administrative support to Georgia Power’s fossil and hydro generation organization.

Mock began his career with Southern Company in 1990 as a junior engineer at Hatch Nuclear Plant located near Baxley.

He transferred to Savannah Electric in 1994 as the start-up supervisor for the McIntosh Combustion Turbine Site and followed this by holding positions in maintenance, operations, engineering and compliance and support at several other Savannah Electric plants.

Mock has also served as maintenance manager at Georgia Power’s Plant Bowen near Cartersville and plant manager of Plant Yates in Newnan.

“As a Savannah native, I’m looking forward to continuing my career in our Coastal Region and rejoining the local community,” said Mock. “This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the generation teams at four of Georgia Power’s facilities and continue to build on our legacy of safe and efficient operations.”

Mock holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He also has completed Leadership Savannah’s two-year community-focused leadership program.
