Should hourly-pay employees be paid for time spent traveling, attending training, taking a break at work or putting on protective clothing? Which types of travel and training are considered work?

To help managers, supervisors and human resource personnel determine what does and does not qualify as compensable working time for their hourly staff, Georgia Southern University will present “LAW 116: Working Time Under the Fair Labor Standards Act” on Oct. 27.

Registration is open until noon Oct. 23 for the 90-minute training seminar at the Coastal Georgia Center in Savannah.

Running from 6-7:30 p.m., the Legal Awareness in the Workplace seminar will be taught by Wade W. Herring II, an attorney from the employment law firm of HunterMaclean.

Participants may call the Continuing Education Center at (912) 478-5551 or register online at http://ceps.georgiasouthern.edu/conted.
