Children's book author returns home to read to Rincon Elementary students
AK Bomar

A.K. Bomar is a 1985 graduate of Effingham County High and grew up in Rincon, Georgia attending Rincon Elementary School. She remembers Rincon as a town without any traffic lights and commented on how much it has grown.  A Wild Hayride debuted in late October and is the perfect holiday book. It is based on true events when the Bomar family moved to Northport, Alabama and her husband, Bill took his young family to the local Christmas festival, Dickens Downtown. The night became a wild and sometime hilarious night. The author is scheduled to read to school children at Rincon Elementary School on November 30, 2023. Ms. Jeans Restaurant in Rincon will also host the author for a book signing during the lunch and dinner hours on Friday, December 1, 2023.
After graduating from Effingham County High, Amelia worked a few years in Savannah before deciding to attend college at Georgia Southern University where she majored in sociology. She later received her master’s degree in higher education administration from The University of Alabama. After serving 15 years in the field of mental health, she has returned to her love of writing. When asked what she wants readers to take away from the book, the author says, “Enjoyment and laughter.”
She and her husband have three children and one grandchild. This is her first published book.
