Move results from Tuesday hearing on ethics complaints

Effingham County commissioners opted to censure commission Chairman Dusty Zeigler, rather than ask for his resignation, after a lengthy ethics hearing Tuesday night.

The other commissioners voted 4-1 to censure Zeigler for conduct unbecoming an official under the ethics statute. Reggie Loper voted against censure after he made a motion, which died for lack of a second, to ask Zeigler to resign from his position.

Before a packed commissioners meeting room, Ricky Stille brought forth a two-part complaint against Zeigler, stemming from the Jan. 4 commissioners meeting.
