SPRINGFIELD —  Tony Chiariello, chairperson of the Effingham County Democratic Committee has announced that the next committee meeting is set Thursday at 6 p.m. at Effingham Health System's Human Resources Building at 701 First St.

Chiariello encourages all members of the community to attend,

First Congressional District candidate Lisa Ring address the committee and interested voters and answer questions if time permits. She is seeking the seat currently held by Republican Rep. Buddy Carter.  

Chiariello noted that it is important for the current committee members to nominate a slate of officers and to complete the listing of committee representatives from districts1 through 5. He encourages all potential attendees to consider  assuming a position whether they have been active on the Committee or not.

In addition to Chiariello, the current committee includes Jimmie Snooks, first vice chair; Paul Lindsay, vice chair; Lucy Powell, secretary; and Jack Garvin, treasurer.
