Effingham County Sheriff deputies arrested two men who were carrying a dangerous chemical in their car, a chemical used to make methamphetamine.

Yesterday afternoon, deputies stopped Jamie Oliver and Anthony Colson in their car at the El Cheapo gas station in the Shawnee community.

Deputies smelled a strong odor coming from the trunk of the car. When they looked inside, they found a 50-gallon container of anhydrous ammonia and it was leaking. Deputies evacuated the area and called for fire department haz-mat crews to clean up the toxic chemical.

Oliver and Colson are charged with unlawful possession of anhydrous ammonia, conspiracy to manufacture meth and other drug offenses.
