County gets recycling pitch

Curbside recycling could be coming to Effingham County, if county commissioners go forward with a proposal from Republic Waste and Recyclebank.

Arthur Smith of Republic and Jeremiah Smith of Recyclebank offered a curbside recycling program that also would provide rewards points to residents. The program would cost an additional $2.90 a month and residents would get a 95-gallon cart. Pickup would be every two weeks.

“We have had people inquiring and have had a lot of interest,” said Arthur Smith.
