The Effingham County Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for a wanted fugitive who is on federal probation.

Deputies are searching for Wesley Mark Miller, 32, of Savannah.

Anyone with information on Miller's whereabouts is asked to contact the Effingham County Sheriff's Office at 912-754-3449.

According to the ECSO, on July 13 at approximately 4 a.m, a deputy stopped a pick-up truck matching one that had possibly been stolen on Highway 30. The deputy walked to the driver's side of the truck and was nearly hit when Miller sped away, said ECSO spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.

Deputies pursued Miller down Highway 30 and onto Nease Road. He lost control of the truck, striking several light poles and trapping him in the vehicle with live power lines. Miller was extricated from the pick-up and taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center with several injuries.

"The investigation revealed that he was driving a stolen truck and had an extensive criminal history and was on federal probation," Ehsanipoor said.

Miller left at some point during medical treatment and began contacting law enforcement claiming he was turning himself in, according to the ECSO. He is from Savannah but also has connections in Tattnall County.

"Miller has not cooperated and is on the run," Ehsanipoor said.

Miller is wanted for theft by receiving a stolen vehicle, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, felony criminal attempt to commit a crime and possession of tools during the commission of a crime.
