The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit raided two methamphetamine labs and has arrested a total of three individuals on various meth and weapons charges Friday.

Deputies discovered a methamphetamine lab in a wooded area off of Floyd Avenue this morning. Deputies arrested Gaylon Smith, 31, of Springfield, at that location. Smith was taken into custody at that location and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

A short time later, investigators raided a residence in the 4000 block of Highway 119 North, where another large methamphetamine lab was discovered along with several firearms. Deputies arrested Nikki Lonnie Barrs, 33, of Clyo, and Lee Baker, 40, of Clyo, at the residence. Both Baker and Barrs were charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Drug investigators spent the day recovering methamphetamine labs from both locations.

Barrs, Baker and Smith are being held in the Effingham County Jail. Additional arrests are expected as the investigation is ongoing.
